The Need for a Disciplined Church

Passage: 1 Corinthians 5:1-6:9

Bible Text: 1 Corinthians 5:1-6:9 | Teacher: Pastor Brian Nevins | Series: Chronological Study-Early Church | Paul addressed the foundation of the church in Christ, and the need for godly wisdom instead of taking on the wisdom of the world. Now he begins to address specific sins that come out of that acceptance of wordly wisdom.

Namely their acceptance and celebration of sinful lifestyles
Their division – suing one another.

As a child of God, born into the family of God through salvation, we have an obligation to personal holiness as well as holiness in the church. While what we are about to read may appear harsh, especially with our modern sensitivities, it is needed for the church to survive as the Body of Christ. Immorality within the church defiles it, and if a Christian loves the body that God lead them to they cannot stand by and permit sin to weaken it and ruin its testimony.
