For the Christian, this is the celebration of our Lord Jesus Christ not a celebration of the seasons. It is the celebration of the defeat of death, and the source of eternal life. We can only look at the Resurrection through the shadow of the cross, and the cross through the light of the empty tomb. When Jesus died on the cross that was the payment for our sins. When He rose from the dead that proved that the payment was accepted. And if the cross was payment, the resurrection is the receipt. That payment, of course, was for our sin. Fully accepted, fully satisfied, our debt no longer exists.
