Fools For Christ’s Sake

Passage: 1 Corinthians 4

One of the most difficult things a pastor faces is seeing someone come to church, every Sunday or sporadically; hear the Word being taught, and yet live a life that is not representative of Christ.In this section of the letter, Paul faced some of the real challenges of ministry:

  • how to confront sin without being too harsh, or implying that the pastor is above sin;
  • how to get people to conform their lives to the gospel when they think too highly of themselves. Regardless of how you might ‘feel’ about yourself or view yourself, when your life does not conform to the Gospel it is always an issue of pride.
  • This is tough work to do in a heart, and only a great work by the Spirit can accomplish it!
